SPIE Photonics West, the largest annual photonics technologies event, will be happening February 4th through 6th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. If you are planning to attend to learn about the newest solutions for optics/ceramics manufacturing and metrology, make sure to meet with the OptiPro team at booth 250. OptiPro has made technological advancements that help companies in the optics industry improve production speed and ensure product quality. From grinding, polishing and measuring various types of optics to automation solutions that complement your workforce and maximize productivity, you’ll discover technology that will take your manufacturing to new heights in 2020.
Automated Part Loading and Unloading
Learn how OptiPro Automation Solutions can supplement your workforce, shorten turn-around times and allow your company to take on more work. OptiPro offers collaborative robots (cobots) designed to streamline operations and increase production through “lights out manufacturing”. Cobots can easily be integrated with any OptiPro grinding, polishing or centering machine to relieve workers of repetitive tasks such as:
- Automated pick-and-place of optics from part tray
- Automated part loading and unloading of blanks and finished optics
- Programmed cleaning of optics after grinding and polishing utilizing a custom configuration designed for your process
New Advancements with Non-Contact Metrology
Demo the newest software version for the UltraSurf non-contact metrology system (capable of measuring parts up to ΓΈ400mm) to see how measuring aspheres and freeform optics is more efficient than ever. Operators can now import several different file formats (CAD, Point Cloud, Symmetric Sag Table, Cylinder Sag Table) into the UltraSurf software to define the surface of the optic being measured. In addition, job set ups are simplified with on-machine alignment by using a non-contact probe to identify datums on the optic to be measured. After quickly defining the optic and aligning the part on the UltraSurf, a toolpath is generated and the machine begins fast, non-contact measurement of the surface.
New features, including the ability to measure diffractive optics, will be available soon…stay tuned!
