Early Vision:
In the late 1970s and 80s, along with the rest of American culture the U.S. tool and die and injection mold and manufacturing industry was going through a significant and revolutionary change. The arrival of computers meant that machine tool handles would be turned electronically instead of manually, in a sense reinventing an entire industry. Mechanical drawing boards would become obsolete, and design work would become obsolete, and design work would be paperless, on computer-aided design stations.
It was clear that the technological growth would be fast and furious and would require extensive technical service and support. That led to the concept visualized by OptiPro Systems (formally CNC Systems), an advanced company consisting of skilled workers and technicians. The main goal is to help the industry implement the advantages of CNC machining and CAD/CAM software.
Results:
Today, the companies that benefit most from this technological revolution are the ones that quickly established uncompromising dedication to service, training and support. The professionals at the core of OPtiPro Systems learned to be as resilient and spontaneous as the technology they were serving. As word spread through the manufacturing community, OptiPro quickly evolved into a uniquely qualified, problem solving team consisting of fine engineers, technicians and machinists.
Proven Product Success:
In 1982, the Ultramill 1000 and Ultramill 5000 machining centers, along with other custom machine developed by OptiPro Systems, became technological steppingstones that led the firm into the world of optics. In 1991, the release of the OptiPro product line(formerly Opticam SX) made OptiPro synonymous with world-leading computer controlled machine tools and equipment for deterministic fabrication of precision optics.
Always striving to stay ahead of the technological wave:
Ongoing reinvestment of capital to allow for facility, equipment and manufacturing improvements required in the high precision world of machine tools.
Nurturing an ingenious staff of team oriented creative thinkers.
Thorough investigation and evaluation of newly developing technologies and manufacturing process developments.
Implementation of the highest quality, state of the art test and measurement equipment.
Challenging research projects and product development with:
The COM Center for Optics Manufacturing at the
University of Rochester - now the Laboratory for Laser Energetics
The U.S. Army
The U.S Navy
NASA Goddard Space Center
Lawrence Livermore National Labs
Los Alamos National Labs
